In Which we return to SimCity 2013, victim of blind spots...

Good afternoon, my friend, reader of this post! Happy Tuesday, how are you? How have the first week of 2025 treated you? An auspicious start, so I hope! As for me, I am okay... at moments, because I have been trying some different things on my games and computer, I feel in the dark, walking in circles with no purporse and so I become frustrated. The hobby has also caused me to be less mentally available for drawing or writing, at least over the past few days, which is also a source for dismay. In retrospect, though, it's not all bad. I think my first drawing of 2025, the cherry tree, tradition since 2022, looked quite charming, and I trust I will do some more at some point real soon, there is no reason for any stress I'd say, even if I stress all the same. The year caused me to become surprised with its walking, because on a chain of events that started with SimCity 4, released 2003, I ended up returning to the infamous title SimCity 2013, famous for ending SimCity as a franchi...

In Which We Have a 2024 Retrospective

Good afternoon, my friend, dear reader of this post!! And welcome to yet another entry here at our divagation store, of our divagation society! How have you been this week of post 25th but not quite end of Christmas, given the season ends only officially on the 6th of January? As for me, I am okay, and I am very happy to say my Christmas was a happy one! Everything went okay. I even ate some Lasagna and mac and cheese! Delicious everything tasted! I also sneaked in some soda, that I should not have drink it, but that is okay, tis the season, and should be a special one, where the laws of nutrition do not apply...

I think, given December is yet to end, we should do a short retrospective of 2024, first... or at least what I can remember of it. Unfortunately, given how grand of a thing in my life the surgery was, I find it hard to remember anything before it. Also, given a traumatic event involving an online friend, I also find it hard to talk about it. What I can say is, things change... no longer can I have access to the beautiful roses on the garden of grandma, as she moved towards the beach area. I do not spend much money on food anymore also, given the surgery, and much of the changes are related to it... drawing wise, since late 2023, my style has changed a bit, moved more, as much as I can, towards more realism. I haven't drawn as much as I wanted, that is true, but I did make some quality drawings this 2024. In any case, I haven't done the courses on drawing I have on my catalogue, maybe something to explore more in 2025, who knows... Speaking of courses, I started my history online course, which is, on academic terms, a huge shift on my focus, though not really on any other aspect of life, given I already live and breathe history, and other humanities, and liberal arts. The course has been one reason to make 2024 happier, as I made new online friends and even learnt some valuable things in history and history making/writing. I did read this 2024, not as much as in 2023, true, but still, I have read some quality books, and purchased/acquired/downloaded a ton more of them! So much in fact, one goal for 2025 is not really buy more books, but to finish on reading the ones I got this ongoing year, already at its end! I should mention, and this is specially due to Sims 3, so credit where it is due, I have learnt many things on game modding and tuning and meddling with the files of the games this year. That is an understatement, even! A whole new world has opened to me. I have turned Sims 3 inside out and upside down, making it veritably a game to enjoy even further, and making a move towards indeed forgetting Sims 4, that woke mess of a DLC simulator. I did try to do some modding on Civ 5 as well, but at the end of the day, I just returned to the vanilla experience on that one, given it is the one I am more used to. Not all games have to be modded. Victoria 3, the most played game this year, is an example of that. I don't play that one with mods... it was quite a year for this excellent underrated gem of a game, and I have experienced all of it to its fullest, much to my satisfaction. Music wise, Apple music brought a huge revival in my music area, specially on Classical Music. But, fast forwarding towards the end of 2024, though classical music still is very much present, there is a shift back to some pop, but pop from the 80's-70's. Not much jazz, unfortunately, not yet, given some people that have hurt me to the gates of uninstallment, like jazz a lot, and so I associated, unfortunately, much of the style to them, and have developed a (hopefully temporary) distaste for some songs of this genre I used to listen to more actively. I can only curse their names, and also wait for God's just and swift judgement on them, when they, by their own making, will be relegated to the fires of doom. I can also pray that God gives me the grace to forgive them, even if it's hard, given the mere glimpse into a picture of them makes my heart ache so much, it could as well stop beating, as to spare me from the worst of it. I can only pray, this 2025, I move more towards forgetting, healing, and if the doors are to remain closed, may they be so, forever. No illusions may be provided to me, please, where there is the impression a chance may be given for reconciliation...

What else is there to be said, this 2024? I am also happy I still have the blog, and I hope I can still write on it very actively, this 2025, though also in hopes of not forcing my activity here. The last days of 2024 I also hope I can make some drawings, and specially Christmas ones, given we are still on the beautiful season, thank Goodness! It should last till January 5th or 6th, and then, we will wait for the season of 25.

This, hopefully, won't be the last post for 2024. But we will see... I should return as soon as possible, so I can write some more this year coming to a close, before opening the gates to 2025. Of course, I thank you all for being here with me, you all are the best friends I could have asked for. And I hope we can still see one another this 2025! I wish you the best, merry Christmas season, and farewell, just for now, see you again real real soon!!
