In Which Victoria 3 and other games are Revived due to good and Exciting Mods!
Good evening, dear friend, reader of this post! How are you this Wednesday? We did reach the second half of the week, I hope it is going so far so good! As for me, I am okay, it was a relatively harsh day concerning the fact I was so asleep, exhausted, and yet I could not rest well, at all. Hopefully tomorrow I will be more refreshed. It has been one of these times for me where I have been playing videogames more, even if I also desire drawing and reading. On the hierarchy of most enjoyable pastimes, gaming usually takes the lead. And, once a title that was lagging behind, Victoria 3 takes the lead once again on favorite titles, this time, it is because of mods. I have been trying many of them in this game, and have been having such a wonderful time!! I try many of them, take down the ones that are not that of my taste, and put others that I appreciate into the forefront. There is this one in particular, Dawn of Flavor, that adds culture mechanics into Victoria 3, and that allows me to live through this exciting century for world music, painting, ballet dancing, and so many more arts and crafts! The base game doesn't have nearly enough culture events or a culture mechanic at all, and as such, now that I have tried this extraordinary unofficial add-on, I just cannot go back. This is quite a revival for a title that was battered for me. It is not, of course, the only game where I have been trying unofficial add-ons. There is the classic Sims 3, that started this journey into modding, that has ever since become a must for me. I was extremely skeptic of add-ons made by gamers, not the devs. I would avoid them. But given Sims 3 kind of need mods to work, given the fact the game at times do not even function without some of them, that made me have a taste of this extremely enjoyable practice, and now every time I go for a game, both new and old on my catalogue, I wonder and look for the mods to add to them. Not all games, of course, go on this route. Some, like Anno 1800, I have not tried with such additions yet, not all games need them, but many are enriched by it to no end! And, seeing the fact SimCity 2013 was so hostile to mods, I will credit that as one reason that promising but punished title died away, and a lesser game, Cities Skylines, rose instead in its place.
It is a time of experimentation for me when it comes to games, my favorite hobby. Much needed new fresh air, given I was getting tired of the same old routine, given many titles I play are not really going to be updated. I can only say Civ 5 is finished on the development side of things, for example. So is Sims 3. Given their more contemporary titles did not live up to them, Sims 4 being the disaster it is, turning once thriving franchise into a dying zombie franchise, for example. When it comes to Civ, the cracks were showing since Civ 6, a title I have put aside for the moment, even, in favor of modded Civ 5. But it isn't the worst contender, Civ 7 being the monumental catastrophe in this otherwise quite celebrated IP. Odd times we live in, I see games outside of my niche, and... I don't know how people even invest time in them. Many are interactive movies, and if I wanted a movie, I'd go to see one, instead of putting more than double the money on such entry. Maybe it is because I am in this bad financial situation, that I have become so tight concerning my wallet, but I genuinely have no appeal or desire to try these different genres of interactive media.
Besides gaming, I do hope I can reserve some time at some point for drawing, besides the college activities. I started this module quite fast, now I am a bit lesser productive, I should catch up. There are three pieces missing for me to conclude this discipline, maybe I will have done it all before the release of the final tests, it is not really that urgent of a catch up. Have said everything I had the desire to write about today, should I wrap things on this entry here? I suppose. Not due to lack of pleasure on writing and being with you, my great friend, but because I prefer to keep things swift when it comes to journaling! I like when I can write just enough, not much, not little. Balance. As such, let's wrap things up, shall we? Of course, no worries as I will be back with more thoughts and ideas soon enough, hopefully during the weekend, next week at latest. Until then, make sure to take care of yourself as much as you can, but also have ice cream because ice cream is such a wonderful commodity. Wish you the very best, and I see you once more real soon, farewell for the moment.
