Hello to you dear reader! Happy Monday to you! How are you today and how are things going? As usual, I wish you the best and hope you are fine! Good morning to you!! Unfortunately yesterday my routine was a bit shaken, I forgot to do the post of the day, unfortunately, and when I remembered of doing it, it was already too late at night, and my internet was really bad, so I had to post pone the post, which is something I hate on doing. I was also so tired, completely without the mindset of writing something. Sorry, please forgive me. But anyway, I am back today. I'm still trying to organize my routine, even today I almost missed my therapy session because I missed the alarm, I'm not a fan of waking up too early in the morning. I forgot my phones at the place of my therapist, a huge mess that I hate, but anyway, I think it was a good thing that I postponed the post in the end, as I can't stop writing now, as you guys can see!!! Now, to be fair, yesterday was not a bad day, but it was a day in which my brain kind of worked in slow motion, so yes, I had to postpone the post, I am really sorry for it, and I'll do my best to not repeat this, and I may do an extra post in the future to compensate, but for now, it's sketch of the week day, the show must go one, and this is the sketch of the week we have!
This one now is a huge throwback to August 2018, the month of my birthday! Part of my more neoclassical period, I did a sketch based on the Admiralty building in St. Petersburg! The painting in it was a bit experimental and I don't know if I like it too much, but it gave some effect to the whole drawing, this one didn't come out as I was expecting but I love it in the end, and it became the symbol of this period of my life, that not long ago was a recent one! I think the grass is too tall though, if I did it today I'd do it in a different way, though I like this sketch... and talking about it, this is the building that inspired this small drawing:
There're so many beautiful buildings in Russia, I think this one must be one of my favorites, though I'd rather something less sober and more rococo, like the Palaces of the tzars that came in before Catherine II and the neoclassical wave that she promoted. I like the two styles, but I personally prefer the first one, which I also think it's underrated. Anyway, as we go on, talking about history and styles, I have a special album for you guys today! An album of the month paved in the sound of the harp and the rococo-neoclassical sounds of the time of Marie Antoinette!
As we're on a more 18th century themed post here, we have some pieces in harp, including an original song by Marie Antoinette! The queen was a huge fan of music, taught to play the hapsichord (a kind of more choppy piano) and the harp, she never became too good in them, though she could play well enough. She could read music really well though, and had a very special eye for the arts. Following her intuition, she sponsored many names in the music scene of the time, including the composer Christoph Gluck, of her native home Austria, and also Joseph Bologne, known as the first composer of erudite music of african ancestry, and no matter how well she was in playing the instruments, she had a true passion for music, one that followed her until her life was cut short. I tried to look for links on Youtube for the whole album, unfortunately I cound't found any, though I did on her original song, a very subtle ballad called C'est Mon Ami, it's a really joyful one, I definitely recommend checking this one out!
And with this, the month of January is coming to an end, beginning almost as a continuation of December 2018, as the classes come, it starts to paint a more original painting. It was not a bad month, and I think it was a rather nice one for me, I had nice conversations with my friends and strenghtened friendship ties, made some nice sketches, and discovered new songs, as I'm looking for new ones! I'm glad I could keep on writing here, and I hope I may continue as the year goes by, I like being here! And I love sharing my thoughts with you guys! Thank you so much for being here, you are the very best! I see you in February!
