Highlighted Quotes That Caught my Attention At The Moment

“The first fact about the celebration of birthdays is that it is a good way of affirming defiantly, and even flamboyantly, that it is a good thing to be alive.” – G.K. Chesterton.

In Which I plan my Christmas Card for 2024

Good morning, dear friend, reader of this post. Happy Sunday, and I wish you the best, both today and on the new week. I must say: September is going by very fast. It is not a bad thing on its own, but I dread the approximation of Summer. There is the bright side the season of holidays is coning, with special dates such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, specially Christmas on my end, since it is my favorite one. How are you, this Sunday? I was here very recently, so I do not expect you to be that much in a different mood, even if a lot can happen in even a couple of hours. s for me, I am... still afloat, recovering from a harsh day, of many tears and no hope. As I try to occupy my free time, I did manage to play some games, such as Sims 3, and Europa Universalis, as well as trying Victoria 3 once again. On Sims 3, as I was in much distress, I decided that I would treat myself to some expansions of the game that I was missing: those were the niche last one released for the game:

In Which I lament for the destiny of Hong Kong and Rhodesia

Good morning, dear reader of this post, my friend! Happy Saturday, and I wish you the best! I am aware this week was one of little productivity on my blog. I also haven’t drawn much. Today, this Saturday, I feel even conflicted about writing as a whole, what is the point of throwing my thoughts out there? I know you like the posts, since you are here, but not many can say the same, the blog fails to achieve some relevance, and I don’t know what will be of the future. Same with drawing. I don’t know if I’m completely brewing this myself and to no avail, but… I really feel sad that I don’t see much of a purpose in what I do. I have my seasons like that. Sometimes the drive to do things is stronger, sometimes it is weaker. Anyway, how was your week? My week was okay, apart from the lack of doing most things. I did return on playing Victoria 3, as decided to try out the new patch for the game, available on beta phase. It is a nice addition, but, of course, criticism already comes strong, with me. I just think the autonomous build and pool is, really not good at this point, my main grip is that when you pause government building, the AI pauses its buildings as well, which is… it defeats the purpose. Other thing that defeats the purpose is the fact it uses the construction capacity of your country, also defeating the purpose. It’s so frustrating, it is something that can bring this game to new heights, but not as it is now. I hope in due time they keep working on it. On the gaming side, overall, the stage is set for the release of the Remaster of Pharaoh, this Wednesday, the 15th of February. Europa is on a dry era at this moment, Vic3 failed so far to impress me with the changes, though I was enthusiastic at first. Anno also is up to a dry year, and I’ve played it so much I fail to see purpose on revisiting it now. I don’t like forcing myself to do things, and with gaming and hobbies is no different. One great thing is that I finished first volume of the biography of Lady Thatcher, by the writer of name Charles Moore. It was an adventure of 860 something page! I started now reading the continuation of her journey, volume two, which has 820 pages. It already starts with the question of Hong Kong, and as with the Rhodesia/Zimbabwe question… it is so massively frustrating, what happened to both places, seeing it from above. The evil Chinese government already wanted to grab the rightfully british very prosperous port, and its population, many that were fugitives from the awful Chinese government, were urging Margaret to not cede to the pressure of giving in. Yet, unfortunately, we know how it ended for Hong Kong… it could as well end it like that for Taiwan as well. Two beautiful places that show what the Chinese people could be if it wasn’t for the evil doing of communism. And about Rhodesia, the once prosperous british colony, as soon as Mugabe took power and established his regime, well, we know the rest, too. Not only in Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe, but in Africa as a whole, the retreat of European jurisdiction caused country after country to collapse. So famous are the images from the 90’s of the african people struggling to even breathe under the communism that came afterwards. Whatever the wrongdoings of Europeans, what came afterwards was so so much worse, so much more wrong and awful, as to make the past colonial situation more like a dream, and the current situation as a living hell on earth, the cannibalization of Africa by Africans. Of course, it is easy to say this after the tragedy began, but just like we didn’t know how Margaret would save Britain from Socialism, we didn’t know how she also failed to save Hong Kong from China, or Rhodesia from Mugabe. She did save the Falklands from the evil argentinian government, though. But still… we look up to our heroes, sometimes we want them to become more than humans, and yet, they are never more than just people with their own issues, as good as they can be. Lady Thatcher wasn’t without its flaws, like I just mentioned, she failed to save Hong Kong and Rhodesia… and yet, she stood for something so beautiful, such as the Victorian values, Britishness, freedom and for the rule of law, to name some things I also stand for, that made herself beautiful, too, more than she already was, with her imposing hair and elegant clothes, soft fair skin. It is not a tale for the faint of heart, the story of this modern heroine. And I said this just by reading a bit of volume two, so you guys can see how good of a book it is, how epic of a tale it is.

I suppose I should wrap up today’s post here, because it is getting so big! And I talked about so many things, maybe that’s the reason I have a blog, just to have an excuse to write my thoughts away. The magic of creation is divine, and maybe someone will like my words, will find them useful. Well, I hope to return to the blog real soon, like, at some point this week, hopefully by Tuesday or Thursday. I am aware (and excited) about the release of the remaster of Pharaoh, true, but still, I hope to be back to chat and share my thoughts with you, my friend! See you again real soon! No worries, I shall be back.
