In Which I am tired of Psychological Games
Good afternoon, my friend, how happy I am to see you and to finally write here on the blog, after some days where I was tired and quite drained. How are you? As for me, it has been okay, I trust, exhausting for the reasons I will talk soon, but okay. Grandma has made 82 years of age! And I was at her birthday luncheon yesterday and it was great! My aunt caused me a scare when she fell at the stairs of the gateway, but fortunately it was just a small hiccup. Not a hiccup is the main topic of today's blog post, we should dive in right away!
Really, it seems like another round of exhausting events, these first weeks of January. The devil Maduro was captured by an astonishing operation by President Trump, that is probably the best moment of 2026. The venezuelan drama is not over, the leadership of the country is still very much communist, but their main executioner was taken out. The scale of this moment, however important, pales in comparison to Iran, though.
After decades of having to endure a brutal islamic regime, the iranians rightly exploded in a wave of unrest, demanding for the end of this anachronic government and the return of the old Pahlavi dynasty to the country, and not even the most awful brutality of the Ayatolah, that was gleeful in expressing how many rebels he and his terrorist forces are able to slaughter, a number that could as well be, after just 4 days or so, higher than 50 thousand people, not even cutting out communications with the rest of the world, forcefully, by the same ayatolah, was enough to stop the deep revolts, that the world supported, but that many key players did not. Mr. Trump here can be the Reagan of the Middle East, and help the Shah and the immensely brave 90 million Iranians to tear down the walls of repression, for a return to some western normalcy, not fully seen in that region since 1979. And yet, he falters, he is not, so far, acting emphatically.
Trump says he is willing to help, yet so far nothing has been decidedly done to topple the Ayatolah. It is painful and particularly cruel mind game that they play, Trump and the Ayatolah, given more than 40 thousand have perished and more are on the line. And what an immense humiliation to America and its mission, if they say they will help topple down the regime, but do nothing, and let the fire be extinguished. What a disaster. Not always an intervention is desired or needed, but in a world that is at the brink of exhaustion, both in Venezuela and Iran, when such actions would be good, ideal, even imperative, still Trump is not being emphatic.
The volume of the discourse keeps being deafening loud. The conservatives are shattered in a thousand different groups, and at their side there is the fact the left is as shattered, and even in worse position. There are those that do support an intervention, but also those, for a number of reasons, that prefer a restoration of status quo. I am sure some reasons are valid. Iraq and Afghanistan were draining, painful, and made the country began its moment of doubt and deep financial trouble. But, one word by the once interesting, original so to speak, now disturbingly deranged, a force for evil, Tucker Carlson, elucidate what could be a reason why Trump has not moved more clearly towards action. Tucker, who's decline has been painful and quite enraging to see, I for one feel betrayed, and I am sure many feel the same, had the gall to defend Maduro on the grounds he is a "social conservative". This argument is a disaster, and if taken seriously, a catastrophic turn for the good conservatives. It works as a poison, that once dripped, causes the well to be barren. He said that "he does not allow for gay marriage", and "see the difference between the sexes", and that a "cabal of gays is pushing for homoerotic marriage" to go forth in Venezuela. I am out of words, deeply so, by this... 5th grade line of thinking, that the debacle of the evil left, and they are evil, specially because they caused some on the right to move on that direction, has allowed to happen.
Immense crisis of institutional trust, and now we see the consequences of such phenomenon to unfold. But also, I am particularly irritated by these moralist shortsighted people. Are they really going to allow the Ayatolah to remain in power because he won't allow them gays to go around? The venezuelans, do they deserve to be forever economically impaired, just because Maduro won't allow for homoerotic civil union? Are we really, really going on this direction? I would not even take those arguments seriously, but some are this petty, and some petty have the ear of this chaotic, absurd (in the best way possible) yet brilliant man that is Trump. And they risk making him less effective as a leader of the free world. Then there is the crisis in Greenland, where the triumphalist tone of the admin causes me, that is lesser confident, to feel like it is too much of a gamble. Europe has been battered, and has been far too comfortable in their position, that is true, but one should not act in such a loud way either, I don't think Mr. Trump should be this full fo himself, as the expression goes. Anyway, a thousand fires, most needed, but does not make this any lesser exhausting and draining to watch.
With this all being said, I think I exhausted the space I had for anything else! I like to write over a myriad of topics, usually I go all over the place, but the immense events could not be neglected, I had thoughts I needed to explain it better. As always, I thank you my friend, for being here with me as I try to make sense of this chaos. I hope I can return to the publications here real soon, at some point next week, where we can have more thoughts and convos. Wish you the best! See you again real soon! Farewell!!
