In Which I ask if I have been Fooled by AI

Hello, my good friend, reader of this present post! How are you, today? Hope you are okay, do let me know if ever possible! I am okay, just here, trying to stay afloat in a month that has been intense, concerning the news. In my personal life, apart from the unfortunate gain of weight over the past late months, and some moments of deep melancholia, boredom, and so on, I am quite okay... what else can I ask for? It is okay, I suppose.... I mean, I could ask for some more relief from this horrid heat, I could ask my brother to stop with the noise from his bedroom, I don't care if he can play musical instruments, I prefer to have my music on-demand, and I hate the podcasts he listen to (and he listens to them with no earphones). Anyway... I have a good chunk of an idea to share, perhaps you will appreciate it! Let's jump to it, shall we?

I wonder, have I been fooled by Artificial Intelligence? Did I ever consider it could be more than just a useful gadget? With the possibility of OpenAI collapsing due to literally running out of money to sustain itself, and the Microsoft CEO saying that "you must use AI or the bubble will burst", I do think of the possibility that the so-called "Age of Singularity" preached by Mr. Musk may not be, after all. In fact, it may be even foolish of him to consider it could be. I myself, I hate being fooled, and I hate to feel lured. What an unhappy set of words by the Microsoft CEO, also, if the bubble is to burst, then let it burst, and I am very sorry if you have betted all too much on the new technology, and I wonder if it's even new at all. Could have been just a repackaged, already under development, trinket that managed to impress enough to be improved. I hate being in such position: I have no ill will towards the technology per se, but I don't like how it has been preached and shoveled everywhere, as well as the ones that want it to just go away, even if this could be very much a possibility, I am most certainly not one of them.

I don't like definitives, I don't like to write under such frames, I hope and try to avoid it. But I also think a lesson is to be re-learnt with the crisis unfolding: Never ignore the laws of scarcity, that the economists of the sane schools have codified into their canons. There was a worry of AI becoming sentient, and going rogue for a reason or two. Though I knew this would not happen, the "what if" on the background was enough to cause nightmares. Now we are close to the final answer: it is not even a healthy or sane concern. AI could never develop a conscience, and how could it be, with the immense energetic needs of just briging loaf of cat videos to life? If it even answering to a Thank You cause them to choke, imagine if they were to have the synapsis to spontaneously laugh, or think on their own terms? And how foolish are those that think the first instinct of a sentient machine, which we discussed could not happen, would be to just level earth and eat humans for dinner? Fortunately, we are dealing with the frame of an immensely obtuse individual, that idiot James Cameron. He is a showman, but if you take all the fireworks from him, put him around a campfire and ask him to tell just a simple tale, we'd be bored after 5 minutes of hearing that nonsense. Not only that, his preach level and his ghastly lack of nuance would make some even to the point of irritation. The Terminator amuses some people that appreciate gadget exposition and cyberpunk, but it has not even a close proximity to mythology. I could start also on how the idea of equating Superheroes to the tales of Homer caused quite a lost generation, but here I would end up missing the point of calling out on Mr. Cameron...

I don't like definitives, I find AI to be useful, we can still have many good moments with the technology, even if it's not new nor that interesting after all. But it has become clear we are not, on this facet anyway, neither on the brink of elysium, nor knocking on the bedroom door of anihilation. The supposed jobs cut out, they could as well even return, if some were lost at all. Like the Ukraine conflict, and the pandemic (rather the disastrous technocratic answer to it), it is a public relations excuse to correct flaws of judgement. It is not the end of the painter after all, but it is the end of the DEI actor, and we should be rejoicing in the ongoing, unfolding demise of DEI. I would not call its end, and notice I have not said Woke, because that mindframe won't go away for good, not that easily. Just now, we are seeing the poison hijack the right, in a very worrisome way, that we have discussed before and will discuss again, at some point, alas... the lesson one take is to be skeptical of excessive optimism, smashing pessimist narratives, and to look beyond the plot of a movie.

With that all being said, I am happy I could write a new blog post! Turns out it could be a productive week after all, and I am not even pushing for it. And I am happy to share this with you, my friend, reader of the present post! I hope to come back here in the blog, to write some more my thoughts and ideas and to catch up with you! Thank you!! Wish you the best, see you again real soon, hopefullu before next week!
