In Which Civilization has a SimCity moment, a bad omen

Hello there, my good friend, kind reader of this post! Happy Friday! Hopefully another beautiful day, maybe we should indeed give it the benefit of the doubt! How are you, my friend? How have you been? I have not write much these days, alas... It is that thing of having some stuff in my head but not being able to take them out to my satisfaction. I mean, we could as well be seeing the collapse of the Civilization franchise, for example. I think I wrote it before here, that I am not optimistic about this title, that their heart (if at all) is in the wrong place for this entry... I could smell the miasma, but now it is clear: reality is even worse than the predictions and projections of before. The Steam consensus, this morning, got as low as 33%, an absolute catastrophic number for the franchise, it is a snapshot of the bad User Interface, the lack of customisation on the game, its mechanics ossifying the main building, or ot is what is implied on even the milder of reviews. The Adventures of Mr. D'Onofrio and his Suitcase with 700 Socks! Chapter 5

Zachary D’onofrio, or to be more formal, Mr. D’onofrio, was now a man with purpose, he was not only get socks anymore, he was now going to the sock land, so he could see its wonders, so he could pay tribute to his hero. He had a plan now, he was going to see that place and then he’d return home to his family. If the sock land was half of how wonderful he thought it was, he was going to live there one day, was going to make everything on his power so he could live there, this was Zach’s plan now. First, he had to let his family know of his plans, so he said goodbye to the accommodating people he was with, and as he rushed home, he screamed to his parents in the way:

“MOM, DAD, I MADE THE MOST INCREDIBLE DISCOVERY!!!! PEOPLE, I AM SO LOUD I AM SORRY”

“Zach, my boy! What are you doing? What is going on?” Said his father, who was already at the door waiting for him.

“Zachie, so what is this discovery you made? Do tell me, my sweet” Said his mother, who was by his father at the door.

“Mom, dad! Can you please call grandma and grandpa? Are they sleeping? I need to tell you all about something.”

“Zach, your grandparents are sleeping, I don’t want to disturb them! You know they’re tired and they just want some rest. Tell us what is going on and we can let them know in the morning, or you can tell them in the morning yourself, son, do you have to tell us about this right now?”

“I can’t wait any longer!!!!!!!!!!! I have some really exciting news to share with you guys!!!! I am going to The Land of Socks!!! There’s a place like this, and I’m going there!!”

“Land of… Son! Don’t you want to get some rest and then we can talk about this more calmly? You look so stressed!” Said his mother, who was not too happy about Zach staying away from home again.

“Son, another journey? I understand they’re good for you, but we miss you here!”

“Mom, Dad, please, I love you both so much, I know I’ve been traveling a lot recently, but collecting socks is truly what I love to do! Please, mom, dad, I’ll be back! But I have to go to this place! I came to say bye and to tell you both about this wonderland, please don’t be sad, please, don’t cry, mom” Said Zach, who saw tears in her mother’s eyes, his father was starting to cry as well..

“Son, I don’t know! Trips can be dangerous! Sometimes we wait for your letters and they take so long to arrive, sometimes are weeks before we hear from you! Do you really have to go son? There’re plenty of socks for you nearby! We’re are not asking you to stop collecting them, we’re just worried about this journey! Are you even sure this land is real?” Said his father, in tears while hugging his mother, they both were now getting desperate

“Son, we understand your pain, we do! So many parents are tough on their children, we were fortunate enough to grow up with kind parents and we wanted to give the same thing for you! We don’t want to lock you here, you need to fly away, we get it, it’s good you’re finding your path in life, son! We don’t doubt how hard it was for you to lose your grandpa, we cried too, but you, son, you were devastated! We do get it! And dear Kyle, who was so close to you, and grandma, how we miss them, but it’s different for you… Sorry, Zach, for we weren’t too present in your life, we tried but we couldn’t take away the pain on those moments, and we ended up leaving much of the work of raising you for Grandpa, it wasn’t fair for him, or for you, but he loved you deeply. We love you too son. We support you, Zach, but please consider!” His mother was crying and said these words with much difficulty. Zach started to cry, he loved his parents deeply, but he had to go.

“Mom… Dad… Sorry, I have to go, I will be back, don’t worry about me, please! Tell everyone I said bye!” Zach realized the scene was getting too hard for his parents, so he hugged them very strongly and then went on his journey. His parents were crying and in pain, for they were worried about their son, but they were trying to understand, and they let their son go. And so the story goes, and so the journey begins.
