Quote of the moment Vol.2

“Any one thinking of the Holy Child as born in December would mean by it exactly what we mean by it; that Christ is not merely a summer sun of the prosperous but a winter fire for the unfortunate.” - G. K. Chesterton, The Streets of the City, The New Jerusalem

Highlighted Quotes That Caught my Attention At The Moment

In Which It is the Height of the Season, at last!

Hello, sir! Hello, madame! Good morning, my friend, reader of the present post! Happy December, and it is a happy moment, as I can now say in full force the beautiful Merry Christmas sentence! How are you, today? How is the weather? I am okay, yesterday was pretty bad, though. Ah... just tech issues, you know? I felt I lost most of my day wrestling against Sims 3, and I lost this round. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times and the results were worse and worse, until I lost all my patience. The future for this game in my life is uncertain, though I never fully discard something with a declaration. It has been a particularly rough season for this now zombie franchise. The old friendly ghost of the seas disappeared, and with him, the whole of supply of Sims 4, the door for this one game now for me is positively shut, not that I wanted it open anyway, that game is mediocre and aggravating. Sims 3 is so much better, and yet, I am taking, unoficially, a break from it. A brea...

In Which I have a brief rant on Empire of the Skies (GREAT DLC, BUT PROBLEMS TO BE FIXED GALORE)

Good morning, dear reader of this post, and happy Monday! How are you today? How are things going? I know, I keep getting out of the blog and returning randomly... It's just life has been busy, in a good way! I have drawings to scan, I have a management course to begin, I have games to play, and enthusiasm to do those things at the moment. I won't meddle myself in digital art for the time being, true, but well, I ordered a new chair now, so that is fun. Cannot wait till is here, at last. And I hope it goes well. Today I had writing on the blog on the back of my head, but what convinced me to do it is the fact I was playing Anno 1800 with the AI, having the new DLC enabled, and it was... well.. I won't say a total failure, but something along those lines...

So, with the prospect of having airship combat, I decided I could as well have the AI into my game, and it turns out this has been a mistake, in the sense that it takes forever for you to catch up with the really fun AIs, airships are expensive as hell, so, in my judgement, is a very late-game usage (if at all), and the worst part is the fact the "fun" AI decides to keep throwing propaganda your way out of nowhere, even when you are on friendly terms with them! Makes no sense at all... I mean, couldn't you have better diplomacy in the game as a result of such actions? Like some treaties and so on, apart from the non-agression one. One that prevents they use their soft power your way... I mean, in order for things to function, we ought to have trust in each other, and this is gone, if it is a glitch in the game, if it is an actual feature, thing is, it really sucks to have random things flying your way, making your citizens mad at you... as if the game wasn't overwhelming already. I was in a good rhythm of growth, mind you, but the randomness of the AIs actions made me rage-quit, now I'll have to restart the game over, yet again, and it is a pain to do so... I mean, not a pain, I guess I used the wrong word, but just exhausting, not in a good stimulating way, the ways videogames are supposed to be. The ideas of Empire of the Skies are quite fun on paper, but it definitely needs tons of polishing, based on what I've seen, and specially on what I've experienced. I don't want to be a hater, I really don't regret having bought the season pass, having played with this one on in the save, but.. Just saying, if you are a new player, you'll never make use of this DLC before mastering the basics, if you think it's worth it (I believe Anno 1800 is worth learning). I say: do NOT touch this DLC if you like having other NPCs in the game. I am a more seasoned one, and even I hate to have to deal with those annoying flying machines going over MY CITY. And I suppose my citizens should've known better than straight up jump into the propaganda's stuff, but well... My grade for the moment (I won't say final because they could Patch things and so on) is around 7 to 8 out of 10, but I do not recommend it to newer ones. An idea for Taka, Aestris, Itroo (if he returns at some point) is to rate the DLCs on usefulness for newer, more fresh players. There are some, like Docklands, Bright Harvest and Sunken Treasures that are worth getting right on the go, but others, such as Seat of Power and even Land of Lions, that require a bigger learning curve.
Those are my two cents on this matter, I would write some more, I love being here sharing my thoughts with you, but the post is getting long and I worry that it will become tiring for you to read all this through. Thank you, friend, for being around, I appreciate you, and I wish you the best! We are almost done with September, a month that was significantly better than August for me, and about to begin the spooky season of October, at least if you live in the north, I live in an area that doesn't have much of a Halloween celebration tradition, alas, so while I observe Halloween, so to speak, I am far more excited for Christmas! Anyway, see you again REAL REAL SOON for more on the divagation store! Cheers, have a wonderful day.
