In Which I am tired of Psychological Games

Good afternoon, my friend, how happy I am to see you and to finally write here on the blog, after some days where I was tired and quite drained. How are you? As for me, it has been okay, I trust, exhausting for the reasons I will talk soon, but okay. Grandma has made 82 years of age! And I was at her birthday luncheon yesterday and it was great! My aunt caused me a scare when she fell at the stairs of the gateway, but fortunately it was just a small hiccup. Not a hiccup is the main topic of today's blog post, we should dive in right away! Really, it seems like another round of exhausting events, these first weeks of January. The devil Maduro was captured by an astonishing operation by President Trump, that is probably the best moment of 2026. The venezuelan drama is not over, the leadership of the country is still very much communist, but their main executioner was taken out. The scale of this moment, however important, pales in comparison to Iran, though.  After decades of having ...

In Which bad trends surround Anno 117

Good morning, my friend, reader of this post! I want to first wish you a happy and fulfilling month of May, the time of the strong change of seasons! Ideally, it would go gradually from the hotter part of fall in the direction of winter, that will be officially solidified in June. Not so, in 2025, it seems. It appear like the switch will be, this year, in my area, quite abrupt. The last days of the month of April and these first days of May were the hottest we had this year. Just Friday, I had to walk a relatively short distance, but with the immense potency of the rays of sun, and the 33 celsius, I was drained and the rest of that day was me trying to recover. Of course, in other areas of the globe, the transition is towards Summer. But, living in the land down under of South America, the shift is the opposite. Fun how it works, is it not? Quite confusing for many.

My personal first few days of the new month, were marked by me having to reinstall my biggest games: Sims 3 and Anno 1800. It was a huge bother and those were moments of stress, but I am managing it now. Apart from that, I am on an optimistic mood, because I am managing my finances, and being able to pay the credit card bills in a much better way. Of course, there will be moments of expenditure, but I am happy to be on a more sober mood when it comes to spending. One step at a time, as always.

The dawning and announcement of second semester of the year have been marked by the full release of the game MemoriaPolis, and the release of a new mod, a massive one, for the game Anno 1800. Given this entry has been successfully wrapped up by the official dev team, it is exciting to see the new content for this game! While we revisit such title, where the fans added a highly anticipated new sessiom to it, an Asian one, the official team is working on the next Anno, which is Anno 117: Pax Romana. This one, so far, looks promising, but the surroundings of the development are very concerning.

The promotion of the game have been handled in a very correct way, but dark clouds surround the project, for example: Anno is an Ubisoft title, and this company has been on terrible ground for the past few years, with chronic mismanagement, bad decisions and the disastrous influence of hard left leaning ideas, with political woke crap plaguing their franchises. While Anno 1800 was not hardly hit by this, I am of course worried for Anno 117. The monetization practices of Ubisoft also cause me to be dead worried about this new Anno, which is built on the success of 1800. The pressure for squeezing dimes from the fans is on, due to the awful financial position of Ubisoft, and the rise in prestige of Anno. There is the issue also of the gaming industry as a whole. Mismanagement is no exclusivity here, and the terrible decisions are being passed on the gamers. Prices skyrocketing. Instead of doing the necessary measures to tone the costs down, and to make good products for an eager audience, prices skyrocket, quality erodes and the audience is driven away by arrogant and cynical devs, that despise the people that pay, in large part, for their meals. 2024 and 2025 have been more than a mess, a crisis, on entertainment, but in fact an a-pop-calypse. One that, unfortunately, was self inflicted, deserved, and even desired.

This is of course but one trend in the announcing second half of 2025. And, at the end of the day... I hope Anno 117 is a good title, with a reasonable pricing. On such a moment of unfulfilling and bloated games, one that would shine through, a city building game at that, what a dream! In any case... I think this is a good way to open the month of May, at least here on the blog... happy I could write it. When should I be back with another blog post? I suppose at some point next week? Hopefully before the weekend... and, until then, thank you friend, for being here, wish you the best, whomever you are... see you real soon!
