In Which November 2026 is welcomed with Christmas and more Artificial Intelligence Thoughts!

Good morning, my friend, cordial reader of this present post! Happy Sunday, and happy November!! The month building up to the best of the year! We are closer to the end of a deeply chaotic one, speaking of which, closer than not. 2025 was quite eventful, but 2026 makes 2025 looks as tepid as 2015 in comparison. As the Christmas part of the year unfolds, more and more breathe relieved, though the perspectives for 2027 are nebulous at best.

October was a huge pile of anxiety. The glee of the first half of the month, where I live, turned to immense dread and resentment after the election results in Brazil. The events of such horrendous circumstance are still unfolding. I wrote it was as if the end of the Soviet Union... my more pessimistic side thinks it is more akeen to the Hungarian Spring, though. Perhaps, as Poland, we will have a anticommunist upheaval now, and reap the good rewards later. Perhaps we will have a moment of chaos before it implodes, like with the Soviet Union... the cast of events is set anyway.

In any case, my friend, how are you? How is the weather? As for me, I am okay. At this moment, stretching my legs, after I went to the computer do my computer routine. I must say, Civilization 5, my favorite title of the series, is, at moments, dry, but when it takes traction and things start to move, it really becomes the greatest. Being dry and taking its time is not a bad thing in itself, in fact it is one of its strenghts, given it allows for more imagination and more connection to the nation you foster. The problem is more when you already have 3100 hours in it or so, then the novelty is gone, hence why I look for the mods, though not too much, I have decided I don't appreciate the Vox Populi unnoficial add-on much, rather just have the community patch and stick with it alongside the mods that work on vanilla. Even so, it is best for the game to take its time, I found out. Civilization 4, the game of my childhood, turns too chaotic and it is a game not afraid of throwing you to the lions. I could play on an easier difficulty, but I like advancing in them, and the issue is not the difficulty anyway, but the armies on the same tile, that makes the game quite painful to administrate after a while. I am sure there must be some mods to address this, but the time of Civ 4 for me is not this one. So far, that game is not being played by me anymore.

Almost a year ago, at this point, I started wondering if AI ended up fooling me. I still have not found out, because while the advancements of this year have been impressive, the technology is still too expensive for what it offers. Then there are the weird and ridiculous things said by Mr. Altman, for example, or by the Anthropic group. Imagine saying an AI has a soul, or that you are so against the market that you built much of what you have, that you complain about RAM storage being with other people, not you. Imagine saying that it is more cost-effective to train an AI than to raise a human. It is getting to the point I am not worried about AI anymore as much, but by the people developing it.

I will say, for gamers that like to mod and to make the games they have actually their own, AI is incredible. Civilization 5, so I've heard, is being converted to 64bits as we speak, by a very talented solo dev, just him and his LLM. Sims 3, same thing. If I am against selling an amount of AI assets with a premium price, at the same time, things flip when the costs go down, as they should, and the possibilities go up. I am afraid, though, again, that the devs that do AI don't exactly want most reverse engineering games and so on, in fact, some are moving to make it harder to do things with their models. For someone that says the most outlandish things on the technology, they are quite obtise and petty as well, clueless of what can be done for good, yet quite keen on looking to misuse such abilities... even if I am profoundly fond of free markets, unregukatef and left to develop without guardrails from above, I can concern myself with some people partaking in it.

Now, again, This post is getting long and I don't like to extend myself too much on the blog. Hence why I think of a book. So, just to make clear, I am 100% against any regulation by the state aparatus. Most are on this position thanks to the regulations, red tape, and prohibitions, not in spite of them. There is nothing more cynical and more horrible of a quote as "I am from the governmenr, I am here to help". No, away from me, I never knew you.

With all said, and as to open November once more, I should wish you a merry Christmas season, now in full swing and unapologetically! Happy new month. I hope to return here to the blog to write some more thoughts and ideas really soon, ar some point in the week. Until then, farewell, just for now, don't worry, cheers!
