In Which I give my 2 cents on Millenia and SimCity 2013
Good morning, dear reader of this post, my friend! Happy Wednesday, and I wish you the best! How are you, today? How was your Tuesday? As for me, I am okay, unfortunately could not sleep this evening, at all, it was a lost, all of it very bad. I can only hope I can sleep during the hours of the day... I know, not ideal, but could be worse, I don't have any appointment for Wednesday anyway. Well, what caused me not to sleep? I think my brain was in a hurry all the time. I was anxious, the weather was too hot to allow me to relax further, and I was also hungry. End month here at home, expenses drained most of mother's payment, so food can be on short supply. These three things: heat, hunger and anxiety, caused me to stay awake. Giving it up on the rest for the moment, I went to play Victoria 3. Oh well...
Before continuing, I saw this on Insta the other day, I love it! Wanted to share it with you and to say: it is all about those small moments, life.
Speaking of games, I got a new one, its name is Millenia, it is a new release by Paradox. I think the game is expensive for what it offers. And what is that? Well, the graphics feel very unpretentious and nostalgic, bringing us back to Civilization 4, but in a good way. Only 5gb of memory required on the machine, making it less demanding than other entries... the game is confusing but intriguing, inviting you to take as many looks as you find necessary, and then some.... overall, my first impression was positive, I give it a 79-100. That may or may not change. The review pool on Steam is pointing upwards, the game is around 61% of approval, and seems to be on the upward trend. I say it will rest around 70% or so, maybe... which is not bad, for the genre that has many people with high expectations, rightly so. Hard to know whom I can trust, though. Many influencers are paid by Paradox to give a review and are prone to biting their tongues on potential criticism. But the public customer can be vicious, and ungrateful, and there are the trolls, plague of the internet environment... it is a shame to be so hard to find a reliable voice. But well, I think the 61% for Millenia atm to be promising. It may end better than Humankind, if it has focus on the development. Anyway, I mentioned the price as a negative, and it is one of the reasons the game sits at 79% and not higher with me... and could even bring it downwards. Not only that, but the game is advertising future dlc already! I know, publishers need to sustain themselves. I am usually not against extra paid content, but man! Give the game some time to breathe! Really, there is a thing as too much. The thing was barely released, and was not that easy of a start, the early reviews were sitting at 35%, and already bringing the dlc card on? Sad state of affairs games find themselves into... anyway. What else is there to be said?
Still on games... I have been visiting Sims 3 quite a bit these days, it is a good game, though I think I did most of what I wanted in this save? I am not sure. I don't want to start a new one, yet, I still want to play with Geoffrey Trianon and his Husbando Jan Trianon. They may have been married for a bit, but are still very much in love, being also best friends, the dream team! Maybe I will send them in more adventures in France, in the idylic Champ-Le-Sims... World Adventures is a very nice DLC with so much to it. All Sims 3 DLCs offer so much! Coming from the constrained worlds of Sims 4, which is my first game of this dying franchise - dying precisely due to the many shortcomings of Sims 4 - it is a breath of fresh air from just a decade ago! Definitely, the Sims as a whole, including SimCity, have become a cautionary tale. And, SimCity 2013 is not a bad game! It just had a disastrous release, very unpopular design choices and as result was abandoned, but don't come and say it is as a whole a bad game! It has more charm in its fingernail than Cities Skylines has in its whole body. I think I mentioned before, I am no fan of Cities Skylines... I am not happy to see the potential destruction of the franchise with the awful release of Cities 2, but still, not a fan...
I think it is really nice chatting about videogames, giving my take in them, seeing what I perceive, to any friend interested! Everyone that comes here is a blessing I hope to never take for granted... I am happy with today's post. I turned a bad evening into a promising new Wednesday! That in itself is a blessing as well! Writing is a bliss! But that being said... I guess it is time to end today's post, because it is getting too big, and my fingers are getting hurt - I am typing from the phone. No worries, though. I will return sooner rather than later. The month is about to end, so I will do a wrap up post. But I may return earlier than that, it just depends on my dosis of coffee and good thoughts! Until then, see you soon! Wish you always the best life has to offer, rest and joyful moments.
