In Which we Welcome December with some Christmas Portraits!
Good morning, dear reader of this post, my friend. Happy Wednesday, how are you? As for me, I am okay. Just... happy it is December, it is Christmas, and I worked on two drawings over the past week, maybe more on its way! Ah... I did have a very bad moment on Monday, but it is just not worth dwelling into it, it really is not. In fact, if I could brush such situation aside altogether, I would be very happy. It is not how it works, as the brain insists to recall, but well... like I said, I worked on two drawings over the past days! One to monsieur le Valerio, the elegant Italian in Germany, and the other to Sir Charliesikies, the anglophile gentleman in Missouri. I should share them here, even...
This is the first of the two I have to share with you today, this is the portrait I mentioned I made for the great and elegant monsieur Valerio, that is very much into great attires of yestyear and into beautiful antiques! His house in Germany is filled with many treasures, that were in the past just part of daily life. Very fond of Valerio, I hope I can keep supporting him and that our good relationship may blossom into a nice full friendship soon!
More drawings after this paragraph! So, I also noticed this is not only my first post of December, but also the post of no. 801! What a way to move towards the ending of 2024! What a way to celebrate the beautiful Christmas season! And what do I have to say, here? As I hinted, I'd love to work on some more drawings this month. If I could do it, this would make me very fulfilled. Of course, I will not move towards forcing myself on this... but one good one invites the other and so on. I have one idea or two in my head, for the next doodles... apart from that, I regret to say I ended up revisiting the dollhous... I mean, Sims 4. Why have I done such blasphemy? Well, because they played a dirty trick this time, one of many, on this psychological manipulation scenario that has become modern gaming. They launched a Christmas Holiday event! The game have been doing such events these days, it is their new "thing". I have been immune to such play for the most part, but an event with Christmaa prizes? This one, I regret saying, I cannot skip. Luckily, it seems to be low maintenance, that kind of thing of "you visit the game, do one or two easy tasks, get the prize, and move on with your life (hopefully) until next award reaping", I don't think it will deviate me much from the previous title of the franchise, Sims 3, specially not on a moment where my fondness for the Sims 3 graphics grow in the same rate my distaste towards Sims 4 ones increase as well...
While I am not yet a full friend of monsieur Valerio, Charlieskies does need no introductions, he is one of my best friends ever! A proof that online friendships do can have a great impact in your life, and be a force for good. I think I mentioned Charles here before, he is so intelligent and strives to be the best Christian he can be. If one person brings me closer to the Lord, that is Charles. And for that I am grateful. I am not that religious or pious or observant by nature, so to have a person you can bring your doubts and fears to, and that will do his best to answer it on a christian frame, that is much appreciated, and makes me not only have more appreciation for Jesus, but also does make me want to believe in Him, makes me want to be around my Heavenly Father more actively. Not necessarily for fear, but for admiration and true love and understanding of things I overlooked before...
I am happy I brought those pieces to you, today, here on this entry! More drawings to follow, I hope... on another topic: I would love to finish my book on the Habsburgs by December 31st. There are still half a dozen chapters to read, covering the last 70 years of the realm of the Habsburgs, in their beautiful Austrian Empire, that was one of the most brilliant places in Europe in the 19th century, and mind you, the competition was fierce, with many urban centers, some already established, others on the rise, fighting to see who could be the most prosperous and beautiful places of the continent. When I am done with this book, I will see what I should read next, and I have so many books to choose from. The challenge won't be lack of options, that is for sure. I even have one or two more books on the Habsburgs to read! Not only that, between writing one part of this post and the other, I found a book on Baroque and Rococo art, and that was a purchase out of necessity, even. I use these strong words to refer to it, because it is so rare, rare indeed to find books on Baroque and Rococo. Specially the ones in Rococo, those are quite rare...
In any case, so, the month of December began, and it is going so far, so okay. There were moments of deep sorrow already, but also, some good trends. We shall see how it continues. As I did write quite a bit today, and even brought not one, but two drawings(!) I think this is a goodly place to wrap the publication up. I hope to be back at some point in the next days, hopefully by the weekend, so I can share more thoughts and life stuff, and hopefully, I will have more joy than sorrow to bring. Thank you for being here, wish you the best! See you real soon...
