In Which we have a post for the Thanksgiving Holiday 2025: from an Exhausted Brazilian to dear America

Good afternoon, dear friend, reader of this present post! It is another day of November, the week of Thanksgiving too, in advance I should say happy Thanksgiving, and I wish you the best. It would be needless to add, but I will do it anyway: grateful to all my dear friends, online or IRL. I am grateful for you, dear reader! And all the good things that came to be this year of 2025, the year of the APopCalypse, the year of the collapse of Brazil's economic purchasing power. I would add moral collapse, societal collapse, overall the burning down of a whole nation, but it has been gone for a while now, what we have is the crumbling of the rubble. Anyway, still, in my personal life, even with the exhaustion, the tragedy, and all sorts of burning out, I am grateful, I am okay, I am cheerful because it is Christmas season. I will not let any catastrophe take this from me, if I can help it. I still have some agency, as such, it is Christmas, I should decorate whatever is left of my rubble...

In which we talk about a nightmare before Christmas!

Hello everyone!! Happy Saturday to you all!! So nice to be here writing this post so you, my potential dear reader, may read it! Saturdays are nice! How are you today and how are things going? As usual, I wish you the best, and hope things are going fine indeed!
Today is being a very hot day, the sun is shining like a super trouper, which is sad, but well, the ventilator is working and I'm on a nice room, sitting in a kind of cozy pool chair, writing this!
Wait a minute, I'm inside the house, and I'm writing on a pool chair? Well, yes, basically, it turns out, the office chairs present here are uncomfortable as hell, and this pool chair fits me perfectly! Sometimes improvisation pays off! But moving on to spooky october, today I decided to talk about one of my favorite movies ever, the absolute Halloween/Christmas motion picture and a classic by Tim Burton, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Now, there's a lot to say about this wonderful movie, that's one of my favorites! I'll probably won't say everything on this post, and I'll probably do more posts on this film in the future, but for now, let's just try to organize everything and go from topic to topic, so we can explore this fantastic motion picture in the best way possible in this post!
The plot goes like this: In an alternative universe, we went to visit the sinister Halloween Town, inhabited by every imaginable monster and horrible creature, that live their lifes always preparing to make every Halloween more spooky and terrifying each year. In the head of all this lies the Pumpkin King himself: Jack Skellington. But, one certain moment, after another successfull halloween season, Jack decides he's tired of this, of how repetitive and boring everything has become, to live for Halloween and to scare, he grows tired of all of this, he already excels in the art of scare, he finds himself empty and craving for something new. With this in mind, accidentaly he falls into another world, the Christmas one, and the realization of this different universe will blow his mind in a very powerful way. And so the story goes, this is as far as I can go on the plot! If I say something else it will be a spoiler! We wouldn't want that, now would we?
This movie changed my way to see spooky stuff forever and opened a whole new world for me, yes, I kind of felt into my own christmas land, and this christmas land is this movie! Back in 2016, this movie was already on my recommended list on Netflix, but I didn't have too much interest on seeing it, I love christmas season too much to trust a movie with such an odd approach to the matter, plus, even though I'm still not 100% excited with spooky stuff, I was even more back then, so I had no intention on seeing this movie. But, once I heard this movie was the favorite of Kyle Sullivan from the Door Monster channel. And I saw a video that said some good things about this movie, so I got curious, and finally decided to watch it.
I LOVED IT!!!!!!!! The songs are incredible, the aesthetics of it are superb, they're so odd and unique! This is a movie so indeed fantastic, that serves both Halloween and Christmas, glorifying both seasons in such a fantastic wonderful way! I really did a good thing on giving this movie a try, it's absolutely a part of my life now, and it inspires me so much!!! The characters are really amazing too, even most of them are completely naive and just dumb, with a few exceptions. It's perfectly romantic in a dark sense, it feels like 1880 for me personally watching it. Tim Burton is indeed an artist! I should indeed do a post on him soon! Plus, Danny Elfman as Jack and Catherine O'Hara as Sally are JUST PERFECT! Also, I just love Sally so much!
It's indeed a perfect movie for Halloween, no wonder why it's so mainstream, it should be indeed. I mean, of course this can make the movie less interesting, but it's such a lovely movie!
Well, this post is getting quite long so I should just stop right here before it gets too big! I'll definitely return to this movie though in a future post. Thank you so much for reading this! You're the very best, please know that you are indeed!!! See you next time!
