In Which Life is not SimCity: Washington Square and the Austrian Connection

Good morning, dear friend! Here I return with some more thoughts and ideas about urban planning and so on. I tend to avoid writing so much all at once, but it cannot be helped as I had this idea in mind, I would love to share! Of course, I want first to ask how are you, how are things? As for me, I am a bit fatigued, but not too bad. I pray and hope today can be productive, I want to make some effort and go deliver some documents at the school and hopefully I may find if I can have an internship or not. The weather is miserable, summer ends with a strong and unbearable moist heat, the worst kind. Hope you are havinf a better temperature time today. With that being said, would love to explore this thought I had, as follows: I think I could have mentioned before, I am reading this excellent book by the writer Jane Jacobs, Death and Life of Great American Cities, and it got me thinking that simulation games have really little to do with real life, have they? I say this as a person that lo...

In Which Civilization has a SimCity moment, a bad omen

Hello there, my good friend, kind reader of this post! Happy Friday! Hopefully another beautiful day, maybe we should indeed give it the benefit of the doubt! How are you, my friend? How have you been? I have not write much these days, alas... It is that thing of having some stuff in my head but not being able to take them out to my satisfaction. I mean, we could as well be seeing the collapse of the Civilization franchise, for example. I think I wrote it before here, that I am not optimistic about this title, that their heart (if at all) is in the wrong place for this entry... I could smell the miasma, but now it is clear: reality is even worse than the predictions and projections of before. The Steam consensus, this morning, got as low as 33%, an absolute catastrophic number for the franchise, it is a snapshot of the bad User Interface, the lack of customisation on the game, its mechanics ossifying the main building, or ot is what is implied on even the milder of reviews. I did not have the chance to play it, yet, if at all... the pricing of the game, another main issue, is astronomical, I cannot afford it. And I also do not feel comfortable giving the game my moral "support" so to speak. It is not even officially out, yet, this is a 5-day-ahead early access, that you can unlock... if you pay an additional 50 dollars for it. Free market and a healthy capitalist economy, always the goal of any reasonable individual and its associations, is always comprised of good contracts, transparent deals and mutual help, these are definitely good foundations for the economy, nothing else can be described as such. It is a sign of a very unhealthy economy, with many incentives on the wrong places, allied with an unhealthy individual or group of them, that such Civilization 7 situation is happening. Honest consumers are being punished for purchasing the inflated price of the game with drm and denuvo implementation to the maximum potency. It does achieve the goal of making the game much harder to be found on the high waters of the caribbean, but at the very bad cost of essentially opening a hole in the whole ship. Everyone will drown. The whole gaming industry needs a huge and enduring crisis, a crash, so the resources may be better allocated, as the Civ 7 catastrophe is widespread. On this topic, what else is there to be said?

Anyway, on other news, I found a nice set of mods for Victoria 3, and how they bring a huge amount of new sets and experiences to this game, that I can't help but be fond of, warts and all. The timing is ideal, given I do have the siren singing in my ear about throwing my dislike for Civ 7 into the wind, so I can find a way to play it as of now. Other games disperse this bad path of mind. Also, classes are back, we are studying for the month of February what constitutes the trivium: Grammar, Rhetoric and Logic. I also have a book on the theme that I should keep on reading. The studies also alleviate the melancholy of not being able to tind work, and the financial stress and so on. It has been a balanced beginning of year, all the bad put into consideration. I am not really entirely unhappy, and I count my blessings. I hope I can draw something at some point, soon, and to also write here more often, if possible? I am allergic to forcing myself and doing something I will dislike and won't feel good about, but also, I like doing drawings as well, I am happy with productivity and so on...

I think this is a good point to finally wrap up today's post! I am happy to finally have written something, and I think something of value! When will I return with more thoughts, ideas, life stuff? Hopefully real soon, hopefully in the weekend! We'll see! Thank you as always my dear friend for being here, I wish you much joy and the best! See you again real soon, so no worries! Farewell!!!
