In Which Civilization has a SimCity moment, a bad omen

Hello there, my good friend, kind reader of this post! Happy Friday! Hopefully another beautiful day, maybe we should indeed give it the benefit of the doubt! How are you, my friend? How have you been? I have not write much these days, alas... It is that thing of having some stuff in my head but not being able to take them out to my satisfaction. I mean, we could as well be seeing the collapse of the Civilization franchise, for example. I think I wrote it before here, that I am not optimistic about this title, that their heart (if at all) is in the wrong place for this entry... I could smell the miasma, but now it is clear: reality is even worse than the predictions and projections of before. The Steam consensus, this morning, got as low as 33%, an absolute catastrophic number for the franchise, it is a snapshot of the bad User Interface, the lack of customisation on the game, its mechanics ossifying the main building, or ot is what is implied on even the milder of reviews. I did not h...

In Which we say hello February! Europa Universalis, Humankind and Anno 1800

Hello dear reader of this post! Good morning and happy Wednesday, and also happy February! How are you today? How are things going? How is the weather? As for me, things are okay, February started on a good note, even with dad and grandma pressing me on work and internship stuff. Dad has such an excellent timing, really... kind of the reason I hate to rely on him for paying my credit card bills... Damn, such a problem it will be this beginning of the month, but I think I got this. I did had some exercises yesterday and it was really okay! I wouldn't say fun, but well, being in the pool doing the hydrogymnastics exercises with my grandma and her friend was pleasant! Grandma and her friend though weren't paying much attention at the class, as they gossiped away, I enjoyed their company, though, was chill! The dogs Pepita n Luna were around as well, they were being showered and taken care of next to the pool desk, they are cuties, when they're not messing up. So, on more good news, Anno teased us with a screenshot of the upcoming cosmetic DLC, and it looks really cute! I know, a cosmetic DLC is not as exciting as a full DLC one, that will also come this year, but I think they're a really nice addition to the game, and I'm glad they're working on Anno still, the team of Blue Byte and Ubisoft Mainz. Also, just this dusk, I read some nice news on Humankind and Europa Universalis! Humankind dev team posted about their upcoming plans for the game, talking about the combat system, more customization on your own Civ, which I'm looking forward to, among other things. I am happy that they are also working on making this awesome game even better. I said on my comment it could be a masterpiece, even, if the work don't stop in the near future, if they expand on their ideas. Only thing is that I haven't come back to the game yet, every time they release a update note of those, I delay my return to the game a bit more, like I keep saying, I loved the game, and the game is awesome, BUT it still needs work on it to become as memorable and replay-material as Civ and so on. I believe many think that way, like the Saxy gamer for example. Lubi aka LudietHistoria also likes the game, as he played once on his streams. But Humankind came on a moment where, for me, Paradox games were just about to be on the rise, and that also hurts me coming back to it.

On Europa, they are making some changes on the Middle Kingdom of Ming and Korea, making changes to the Confucian religious-philosophy system mechanics, also adding some buffs to Korea, that needs it. I'm excited, if they deliver what they are teasing, it's gonna make Korea my go-to nation indeed! I already had much much fun playing there, but I feel like confucian faith, though strong, could be even better, specially if you switch from Korea, a smaller nation, to Ming, a multicultural empire. I had a bit of a prejudice playing in Korea, because I read on some posts that the nation was underwhelming and confucianism was weak. There is some truth to that, as Korea is pretty homogeneous, they don't make much use of the harmonization system of Confucianism, which allows you to make other religions being tolerated as they were your own, and adding their buffs to the table, something that Ming makes great use of, but not Korea. Playing as Korea, I had much fun and I think they are in a solid position, but the complaints were welcome. Can't forget that they're making some changes to the winter palace of Russia, changing some of their buffs to make better use of the vast lands of that upcoming empire. Empire that will sprawn accross the siberian lands, stretching towards Asia. As you can imagine, institution spread accross those lands can be a pain, and the Winter Palace new traits addresses that. Very exciting stuff. I also wonder: Will they release yet another DLC with this patch? They haven't teased anything of the sort yet, and the game already has way too many of them (and to purchase them all in full-price hurts your finances a lot, even if you are in a northern nation with a stronger economy, such as America or England). That being said, a new DLC, perhaps a flavor pack, could be interesting... but as I said, nothing of the sort was teased yet, so we are to wait.

This post, wow, probably one of my longest ones! Just put me to chat about the videogames I love and bam, you have what we're seeing here! I think for now it's time to wrap it up. Thank you for being around, dear reader! Hope your days this short month may be good ones, wish you the best, as I always do! And I see you again real real soon!
