In Which we have the A-Pop-calypse, the great Permian Event for the Entertainment Industry
Good morning, my friend, reader of this post! How are you, this beginning of what should be the last week of March? Ah, already at the gates of April? How could this even be? It's Easter time! With bunnies, chocolate, a sacred time for christians and jews, though for different reasons. I just like a good celebration, that is all. I wish to have a good chocolate with it. Ah, if only. I am not sure if I am about to make sense with the following post, it will be more experimental, but I feel I wanted to say something on the debacle of the new Assassin's creed game, the new snow white casualty. Not that I am the target audience for any of the mentioned, but the fact is, the company Ubisoft also does Anno, and Disney is still bigger than life, even if dancing with dangerous partners. So it goes... I did not mention Civ 7 much, because I already talked a lot abour it on orher posts, but I did said the name briefly.
We are experiencing a veritable A-pop-calypse, I reckon. Of proportions to rival the permian mass extinction of hundred million of millions of years ago. I say that thinking of the massive and relevant animal groups that disappeared through the Permian geological changes, opening the gates for the Mesozoic era and the dry Triassic period. For the most part, only the small, and specially the tunnel driller ones survived the cut out of some 95% of all life on the planet. I am no naturalist, humans are no animals, not the ones of the regular kind anyway, but I do like history. Geology is like the history of planet Earth, so even if I hold the convictions I do, it is still a fun exercise to imagine human life as the geological eras. I can imagine Ubisoft being some powerful Amphibious creature that thrived on the Carboniferous period, only to see its place of living dried up and become a desert just some thousand ears later, causing it to die up. Disney, that goes beyond a single species, having its whole group, perhaps ecosystem erased as the continents became Pangea, and Pangea is no paradise. No, Pangea is hard to endure. The center of the continent is dry beyond any hope, as the winds of the sea won't get in there, causing the whole place to become dead. I don't think Snow White's disaster will be the one to take down the once thriving and once beloved company, that has been nonetheless in clear decline since right after Frozen the First hit the Cinemas. But, it is a disaster, and it should shake this once resilient edifice, once an American darling, that was nonetheless corroded and suffocated by the devils of Frankfurt, the deadly meteor called Horkheimer, the miasma of Marcuse, the ghost of Benjamin. Those evil agents of destruction, the beasts released by the breaking of the seals of heavenly judgement. Disney may escape just barely. But God won't be as kind to Ubisoft, that having been making terrible decisions for years, finally awakening the wrath of the Japanese, may be their final act. What can I say but judgement day, Apopcalypse, when bad decision after bad decision catch up to them. Reality is not one to be ignored. Ah, and of course, how could I forget the true Civilization 7 fallout, to put Chernobyl itself to shame. Apopcalypse, Permian Mass Extinction, you name it.
Good news is that even with the devastation, life endured. The small animals went on to make earth more recognizeable. Even the judgement day could not entirely end humanity. The times of true darkness and much suffering and death were overcome, at least by some thrifty folk. I think of many indie devs and companies that still linger. There is also winds from the east, blowing trends that are not all positive, but still that have some life and vitality to them. There is still demand and desire for movies, and specially for something nice to see, a compelling story, goodly tempered and well seasoned, without the screeching evil overplayed marxist tropes. We should see how it goes as the landscape may reassemble. Life moves on, jusr not the same.
So, this is it for today's post. I wrote it in one sitting, as of usual, and I am not even sure if I made any sense. I am tired, it is almost lunchtime and I did not have much to eat for breakfast. But as I said at the opening, I wanted to say something on this relevant situation. Happy I could share it with you, dear friend! Of course, I wish you the best, and I hope your new week may be a blessed one! Cheers for the Spring season! I hope to see you again in the next few days, if possible! If not, as soon as I can. Don't worry, I should be back anyway! Farewell, for now.
