In Which One Begins 2026 Business as Usual: Ora et Labora on the Unknown

Good morning, dear friend, reader of this present post! Happy  first day of January and 2026! Hope your last one of 2025 went fine? Do let me know! As for me, the beginning of 2026 was one where I slept through most of it, or at least did my try on napping, because the noise was great. I spent the firework moments at my grandma's apartment, but we did not see much of each other during that moment, she went downstairs for a small gathering with her neighbors, and the neighbors had an appaling taste in background music. I was tired and with not much patience for doing anything, so I retired to my own room here, and then went for the balcony to see the beautiful spectacle. In comparison to last year, it was much less "magical" so to speak, given I already knew the procedures from 2024-2025. I think for me it went business as usual for a special day, grandma was stressed out due to the food she had to take downstairs, I was abliged to help with some preparations, on my end, I...

In which we talk about Isle of Dogs!

Hello Everyone!! Happy Saturday to you!! How are you today, and how are things going? As usual, I wish you the best, and hope you're having a nice day indeed!
As for me, I'm just here having a calm day, it's not raining anymore but it's being a fine day! I made some sketches! Which is something that I like to do! Just some sketches!!! I wrote some poetry as well. It's fine that I'm not afraid of them anymore. I still don't like most poetry, BUT it can be fun!! It's some universe, that's for sure!
And today, I wanted to talk a bit about the new Wes Anderson movie that came out earlier this year! Which received way less highlight in comparison to Grand Budapest Hotel, but which is a very odd and very inventive movie, and it's a very Wes Anderson movie indeed, I'm talking about The Isle of Dogs!

Fun fact: Jason Schwartzman, one of my favorite actors, was part of the people who wrote the script!
So, we're out of my Wes Anderson mania, that had me for the later part of 2014 and the earlier part of 2015. But I got really excited when I heard this movie was being made for the first time, back in the earlier parts of 2017! This enthusiasm got diluted as 2017 went by, but I still looked for it! Unfortunately the movie didn't reach any theater in my town, and I had to look for the movie on the internet to watch it.
First of all, this movie shows me that indeed my thrill for Wes is gone, though I still love him. Guess I got saturated by him when I was madly in love with his movies back on the days, and now I'm just not into it too hard anymore. Maybe I found other interests, maybe it's just my mood, but anyway, the important thing is: The movie is really good!
Important to say, took me more than one watch to understand the movie and see all the details in it, some will to do so too, so hang on tight if you decide to check on it, but I promise, it's a great movie! It is eyecandy and extremely well made, with tons of Japanese Culture that is so mind blowing and interesting! The characters even speak in Japanese, which can be weird, but still, so great!
So, a bit on the movie: 20 years in the future, the Mayor Kobayashi of the Kobayashi clan, mayor of the city of Megasaki, approved an order to ban all the dogs of the city into a quarentene island: the trash Island, which becomes the Isle of Dogs. The reason he did this, the official reason, if I may say, it's because the population of dogs spammed out of control. Also, because the dogs are facing a epidemy of Dog Flu and Snout fever, and this, he fears, can soon envolve to affect humans as well. As we watch the movie though, we start to discover some other stuff, and so it goes.
The guard dog of Atari Kobayashi, a boy living under the custody of the clan, Spots Kobayashi, was the first dog putted on the island. Atari never accepted it too well, and also so it goes.
This is the plot of the movie without giving too major spoilers, if I happened to do so, please forgive me. It is really interesting and nice to watch! It is not as explosive as his previous major hit Grand Budapest Hotel, but it's odd and cool and the details in it are crazily well made! After watching this movie more than 4 times, pushed by my interest in Japan and to see all the details on the movie and also because of how moving it can be, I fell in love with it, as I did with most movies by Wes (because I never watched Bottle Rocket and Aquatic with Steve Zissou it's just... no. Pass). I can safely recommend it to you guys, knowing the content I'm telling you to see if you want to is safe and quality one, or at least I think so.
So, this very weird and nice movie is what we have for today in the blog! Thank you so much for reading, you're the very best! Always so nice to write posts for you guys! I see you guys on our next post, next week! Hopefully it will be a week filled with ideas on the blog, and one that College doesn't make me too much tired. No matter how it goes, we got this. Happy weekend to you!!
