In Which Life is not SimCity: Washington Square and the Austrian Connection

Good morning, dear friend! Here I return with some more thoughts and ideas about urban planning and so on. I tend to avoid writing so much all at once, but it cannot be helped as I had this idea in mind, I would love to share! Of course, I want first to ask how are you, how are things? As for me, I am a bit fatigued, but not too bad. I pray and hope today can be productive, I want to make some effort and go deliver some documents at the school and hopefully I may find if I can have an internship or not. The weather is miserable, summer ends with a strong and unbearable moist heat, the worst kind. Hope you are havinf a better temperature time today. With that being said, would love to explore this thought I had, as follows: I think I could have mentioned before, I am reading this excellent book by the writer Jane Jacobs, Death and Life of Great American Cities, and it got me thinking that simulation games have really little to do with real life, have they? I say this as a person that lo...

In which the author wishes everyone a happy 2019! First Sketch of the week!

Happy Wednesday everyone!!! Good Evening and happy 2019 and Happy New Year! Yes, 2019 is here! Wow! I still can't believe it! As it happens usually with me, it takes time to get used to the idea that I'm on another year, usually it feels like a continuation of the last one until something different happens! This is not necessarily a good thing, but it can really well be one! It also doesn't need to be something massive or something that happens all at once, sometimes I can look in retrospect and think "yes, that was definitely a different year". Anyway, regardless of me feeling 2019 or not, we indeed are on another 365 days solar cycle! Also, I have something else to say! Happy Christmas! Christmas for me is a loved Holiday that is always present, even out of season. It is in standby by most of the year, returning gradually beginning in September/October, this with all the seasons and Holidays of the period, celebrated on Brazil or not, my mind is everywhere, it's definitely not on the place I happen to live. Well, anyway, it slowly returns in September/October and it comes full scale in December. But, fun fact! Christmas season actually officially goes until January 5th! That is the day of Kings, I mean, those three legendary kings that went to visit Jesus when he was a Baby in Bethlehem. This is the day that the scenes and the Christmas tree are carefully dismantled, and they must wait another year to return. Pretty cool right? I love those dates and all that, I find them really interesting, and I'm big on some Holidays, like Christmas, though I don't follow any specific religion, I don't think that excludes me of the pleasure of Holidays besides the days off, which are also very cool. I do love Christmas, and it will always be special for me.
And how are you today, on January 2nd, dear reader? How are things going? The year has changed, but I will keep on wishing you the best, and specially on this ocasion! This is the first Post of the year on The Divagation Store! Yes! The place is open and ready to receive its customers! This is nice. I hope my blog may continue to survive this 2019, and I'll do my best to keep posting here and just writing on my style of not putting too much pressure on myself and just going for it, just keep on writing, don't even correct it. It works better this way for me.
Well, also, today is Wednesday, as I pointed out, so we have Sketch of the week day! The first of 2019! How crazy is that? I have to do some new sketches, speaking of the Devil, I'll try to do some right after this post, or maybe tomorrow, I have some ideas to try on, but first I'll do some more Christmas Sketches and I'll wrap this season partially for now. Well, anyway, here's the one I have to offer today!

Inspired by one Korean piece of art, this is a Christmas forest with some snow and Christmas lights reflected on the ground! The sky has a really strong tone of Blue to it, and I painted so strong someone pointed out it looks like crayon painting rather than color pencil painting! We also have a Red Moon and a White Sun! On the original Korean craft, we have more trees and lots of mountains, I thought about putting the mountains as well, but it would reduce the amount of sky in it, and I was really wanting the strong blue to overshadow everything, so the mountains were scrapped. I also am very aware of my limitations, like there's no perspective, it's a 2D cartoon made of color pencils and pens, not a Korean masterpiece brushed beautifully, but well, I do love Christmas trees, and I love Korean art, it's really one of a kind! Anyway, here we have the final result of my efforts! I loved doing some Christmas art this last year.
So, the Korean Drawing is what we have for today! Thank you so much for being here and reading this, dear reader, you are the best! Again, happy new year! And I see you on the next post!
