In Which we have an Incoherent Post, such is the thought process of the author

Good morning, sir friend, reader of this present post.  How are you, this beginning of weekend? How was your week as a whole? On my end, I would say it was productive! I worked on two drawings, which is rare in itself, and I had a particularly good day, where the games I played made me happy, for a change. I adore when a hobby returns to making me happy, stimulated... these days it seems most of what I do fail to produce in me any joy. Sad when an activity that should occupy your idle time, and God knows I have a lot of idle time, with much needed joie de vivre, fail to do so. Where else to go, anyway? I feel in many cases drained. Perhaps I should, not in all, but in some cases, return to less complex paths concerning mods. I would not call it going back to the basics, but as an example, I had a visual glitch in Civ 5 recently, that caused me to become weary of the amount of mods I am using to play the game over the past months. Perhaps taking away one or two is in order. On this ...

In which we talk about Anno 1800!

Hello everyone! Good afternoon and happy Thursday! How are you today and how are things going? As usual, I wish you the best and hope things are going well! I'm so happy to have you here! How is the weather where you are? Here it is hot, hot and hot, I need fans and AC to keep things bearable, this spring is killing me! And anyways, I'm super tired as well, which I think can be a good thing, specially at night! So anyways, laziness has been getting to me these days, which sucks a lot! I wish I wasn't so lazy! I haven't been drawing much and even writing on the blog because also of it! But life has been okay I'd say, I've been playing tons of a game I'll talk a bit about today: Anno 1800!!!

Anno 1800 is a city builder/economic planner/Real time Strategy game in which you live your life as a builder of towns in the 19th century, age of industry! Choo choo! Here you must from humble beginnings build a city that one day will grow so big that you'll need to colonize other islands and regions in order to keep it functioning! OF COURSE let's not jump ahead of ourselves, the game is more intuitive than I was expecting, even if I watched some tutorials and stuff, and as the game goes by you go learning with it! The first population you'll get is a farming one, pretty easy to handle, pretty basic, lovely, kind, but of course it doesn't end there, when the farming needs are met, you can upgrade those houses to the worker cathegory! They are also easy to handle, but they also require more goods, such as soap, bread, sausages, all of which you can produce through your island, and yes, this game is island based, so you get a set of islands everytime you start in, sounds cool but those islands get occupied pretty fast, so you better keep expanding! You'll soon reach the artisan level, the artists and stuff, and they are even more complex, requiring you to sail to the new world to get cotton so you can make fur coats for them! I mean, sounds complex but it's pretty intuitive and just requires a bit of research, there, on the new world, you'll build a whole new set of towns based on colonial Latin America, specially places such as Cuba, Venezuela, Peru, Bahamas and other countries on the caribbean! They are a bit difficult to handle at first glance but you got this, I believe in you, I mean, you start with jornaleros, they require Fried Plantaños, ponchos, and they upgrade to a second tier of residences, the obreros, that require boulder hats, sewing machines that you produce on the old world with artisans, you gotta import those through trade routes that you build, you got this, I believe in you, and so far I think you got the spirit of things: Set on an island, build a city and keep your population provided with needs, produce building materials too, keep on going!

The game gets to another level when you reach the Engineers tier, the fourth kind of population you need on your island, but that's the theme for another post, where I'll talk about engineers, investors, and so on, because this one is getting too big and I don't want to make you guys tired from reading all of this info, I promise this game is pretty awesome, easy to play, complex to dive in, and a huge adventure, but we'll get into it on this series of posts I'm planning, let's go one step at a time, shall we? For now this is it, thank you so much for being here, dear reader, I wish you the best, see you all next time!
