In Which we return to SimCity 2013, victim of blind spots...

Good afternoon, my friend, reader of this post! Happy Tuesday, how are you? How have the first week of 2025 treated you? An auspicious start, so I hope! As for me, I am okay... at moments, because I have been trying some different things on my games and computer, I feel in the dark, walking in circles with no purporse and so I become frustrated. The hobby has also caused me to be less mentally available for drawing or writing, at least over the past few days, which is also a source for dismay. In retrospect, though, it's not all bad. I think my first drawing of 2025, the cherry tree, tradition since 2022, looked quite charming, and I trust I will do some more at some point real soon, there is no reason for any stress I'd say, even if I stress all the same. The year caused me to become surprised with its walking, because on a chain of events that started with SimCity 4, released 2003, I ended up returning to the infamous title SimCity 2013, famous for ending SimCity as a franchi...

The Adventures of Mr. D'Onofrio and his suitcase with 700 socks! Chapter 3

His hometown was somewhat small and definitely lovely, his family was welcoming and understanding. His parents and both pair of grandparents were neighbors, so the family was very close together. The cousin of Zach, who related it was to him for being the son of Zach’s father’s brother, lived with Grandpa and Grandma D’onofrio. His name was Kyle Barnett D’onofrio, and he went to live with them when his parents died, when he was just a baby. He was 22 when went missing in the tragedy.

Zach and his cousin were friends; he was only 3 years senior to him. They played a lot when kids and as they grow up their relationship became more mature, when Kyle got his first girlfriend, Zach was the first to know, when Zach got his suitcase, Kyle was there to freak out in joy with him, Kyle was Zach’s best friend. They both had a deep respect for Grandpa D’onofrio, and they spoke in the same language. When Kyle went missing, the news hit Zach like a meteor, on the top of the huge meteor that fell over him when he heard his grandparents were dead. Zach missed Kyle deeply, and was always thinking of him, though he didn’t believe there was a chance he was alive.

The family had a fairly good shoe shop, one that was founded by Zach’s great grandfather: Mr. Malachias D’Onofrio. It was a solid business, and the family employed many people in the town. When his great grandfather died, his grandfather, Grandpa D’Onofrio took over, and the place kept prospering. Now that his grandpa was gone, Papa D’Onofrio was taking care of the business in the ways he could. Everything was so sudden, papa D’Onofrio didn’t have a good idea on how to run a business, but he was a fast learner, and he was starting to get good at it, everything Papa D’Onofrio wanted to do was to keep the shop alive, so he could secure the welfare of his much beloved family.

Papa D’Onofrio was one of the most loving human beings alive, he’d worship his wife as she was the queen of the universe (he’d say she was the queen of his universe), and would embrace Zach with all the fatherly love he had to offer. Even though he didn’t have innate businessmen inclinations, he was working at the shop since he started to talk. Grandpa D’Onofrio was a good teacher and a good father, but he didn’t expect the son to run the business, he wanted it to pass to Kyle, his adopted son, when he died. The reason why grandpa made that choice was because the own papa didn’t have too much ambitions. He was extremely hard working though, so much hard working his son was basically raised by that overachiever, full of energy man that was his father, but that was it, he didn’t want to run the business.

But he took the business in his back with no complaints when he had to, and he was doing his best at it.

But funny thing the human mind is, his father was very much loving and kind towards Zach, and yet that didn’t cure his depression, that didn’t stopped Zach from becoming more distant from his family. Zach was not a bad person, but he couldn’t control his mind too well, and his feelings were like terrible monsters in his brain. Now he was far and far away from his father and mother, traveling far and far away, his parents weren’t to blame, they were amazing. Zach wasn’t to blame as well, he loved his parents. Life is complicated, the mind is complicated, and this is how it goes.
