In Which we have Problems in Anno 1800. Eden Burning for real?
Why hello there! Today we have me very concerned over the state of Anno, due to a video of this very outside the box super awesome gamer, Takarazuka, that I believe I mentioned it before. My state of mind, however, does not justify not asking first: How are you? How is the weather? I do wish you the best, reader of this post, and thank you for reading. I hope I can get more cheerful as the 24-25th approaches, but for now, let's talk about this. What looked like a bright future could turn to look like a storm with many thunders in the future of Anno 1800. Well, more about this bellow.
Takarazuka, one Anno 1800 gamer that does Youtube Videos pointed out some very compelling things that are potentially going wrong in Anno 1800's realm. In his video, he starts by pointing to the many glitches in Update 13, released last week, and the fact that we have to wait quite a while for those bugs (for some, game breaking bugs) to be fixed, in comparison to other games. Since Taka's video is a bit apocaliptic, and I don't wanna get all sad and pessimistic, I will just write based on what I heard yesterday, if I forget some points, I apologize. And I also will leave the link for the video HERE. He also pointed out for the fact the relatively small team of people working in Anno 1800 is brewing disaster for them, by trying to do too much in too little time, such as the Season 4, scenarios as interesting and immersive as Eden Burning, the first one released, a new Anno game, doing changes in the engine of the game. I am writing this post because I am also concerned, this game is the best game out there if you ask me, at least in the genre, and I'd love to see it top notch, not on a mess of a state. I don't care if season 4 may be in a smaller scale than season 3, we weren't expecting it anyway. The New World could use some new features, true, but if they are on this state of things, of stretching themselves too much in order to release something, I'd rather things to stay sober and functioning. Of course, Taka went as far as saying there is a chance Season 4 would be a series of Botanica DLCs, which is: just adding a botanical garden to the game. I believe that's very acceptable for season 1, but not at all in this point of the game. What concerns me the most is not necessarily this, but what he described as a game that is basically held together with duck tape, on freestyle improv, ready to tear itself apart. Taka pointed out they could be using old code for the updates and so on, which raise me so many red flags, I don't need to be a pro to notice this could spell disaster, as the game changed quite a bit since its release.. I don't know, I don't know if this post will add to something, but since when I write to add something to the table, right? I am just worried. Worried that soon this game I really appreciate, that I look forward to, ceases to be a feature of enthusiasm in my life, that always could use something to be excited about. So yes, this is it: Just don't break the game, arrange the codes. Address the bugs. Be careful with the development of Season 4, achieve balance, if that's possible, that's what I'm begging for.
