In Which we have a Happy Easter!
Good morning, dear friend, reader of this post, and happy Easter! It is the height of it, time where we eat chocolate and remember the somber story of the man who was tortured to death, but in the end managed to return and ascend to heaven, for his life everlasting.
He Flies who flies
This King flies away from you, yee mortals
He is not of the earth, He is of the Sky
He flaps his wings like a zenith bird
He goes to the Sky
He goes to the Sky
On the Wind
On the Wind
With those words, the Opera Akhnaten announces the funeral of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and later the coronation of his son, Amenhotep IV. He wouldn't keep this name though, as he decided to establish his own religion, he'd change his name to Akhenaten, and the rest is history. I brought this poem to the Easter post due to those words really remind me of Jesus, the King whose kingdom does not belong along men, but in the Sky, heaven. Egypt is one of my passions, I love this old yet extremely sophisticated culture, advanced for its time, that is for sure. It inspires me to tell a fragment of the story of my sandcastles, that I should proceed to tell in the following lines! The post should be about it, I'll include pictures and so on! Hope you enjoy this Tale.
Rise and Fall of The Big Sandcastle
Before the Rise:
Sandcastles have been built since approximately the year 3, encouraged by the Queen Mother’s abilities. Even if the original technique of the early period developed with time, giving rise to all kinds of experimentation and sophistication, they were small, and usually built by the water, causing them to be vulnerable. The beach of the south was the favorite place for its buildings, and many cities were erected there from the year 8 to the year 12, very little of those survived the official records, but the memories tell of big settlements with many towers.
The picture here taken is dated from February 2015.
Rise:
By the year 14, the southern beaches were gradually abandoned and were replaced by new locations on the north. There, the sand is dramatically different, and old methods had to be adapted. First years saw very similar buildings from those of the south, but with methods that only resemble those of the past in appearance. And either way, those methods were not as effective to build towers, they were more unstable and humid, and would melt many times, crumbling over their weight.
The problem gave rise to a drastic solution, which is, a new way of piling up sand, tried for the first time in the beginning of year 15. The result were towers far higher than those of the past. It is caused because the pile of sand is replaced by the “drum” of sand, the first drum being huge and responsible for absorbing the impact of the water, followed by smaller drums, that are carefully placed as if to not overwhelm the base, that grow larger to absorb the water and to survive the weight of the other drums. It culminates with a statue of sand, that crowns the building.
The revolution of the drum is fast and replaces the old methods of piling the sand, it makes the building grows to unbelievable heights and makes it far more resistant to water and the action of the wind. For the first time, some survive the action of the tides, and its adoption is far and wide, causing the landscape to be changed.
The Picture here taken is from the period of 2016.
Heydays:
The year 17 see the apex of such buildings, that rule the north and spread towards the south, even. The records and the cities are abundant, the culture flourishes. Even with the extra spending and extra time to build the behemoths, they thrive and seem to have triumphed over the ways of old. There were always moments in which the towers inhabited away from the sea, but those moments are exacerbated now, from the desert of the west to the wetlands of the east, the tower cities endure. Even if some left in ruins, they thrive nonetheless.

Fall:
But this is only illusion. The costs are astronomical to build them consumes much time and energy. The crisis of the year 18-20 are not a huge hit, but starting in 21, the towers begin to crumble under their weight. Many seasons, no new buildings are erected, the records grow thin, and the people disperse.
The year 21 see a collapse in the effort to rule the skyline.
The year 22 see new towers, very thinly spread, rarer. The novelty of the past, that the towers represented, is now something to be only gazed in disinterest.
Note: One of the proofs of the decline of the Drum Castle is the fact I had a huge issue trying to find pictures of any sandcastles from the period of 2020-2021. The fullproof camera disappearance (donation) contributes to the lack of records of the period.

Conclusion:
The drum buildings are important for they introduce a new way of building enduring towers, but their size was their downfall. The trend is to, learning with the method, return to smaller scale buildings, resembling those of the queen mother. The era of the skyscraper seems lost at the moment, until there is another wave of inspiration, energy and prosperity, the people return to more austere designs.

So, this is the story I share with you all for Easter! I wrote it just now, inspired by the story of the rise and fall of the big pyramids of Egypt, wonderful one! This one is getting real big, and the images make it hard to edit and overwhelming, so I'll wrap things here and return, hopefully, tomorrow, for more stories, thoughts, rambling and improv! If I don't return tomorrow, I will real soon! Either way, I appreciate you, reader of this post! See you again real real real soon!
