In Which I Love Chocolates and Easter Bunnies and Specially in the Easter Season

Good afternoon, my good friend, reader of this post! How are you? How have you been over the past few days? I hope you may have a nice weekend! As for me, I am okay. Tuesday I had the therapy session for the psichoneurological exam, I still need to sort the internship issue, and also need to draw blood for my doctor appointment. On another note, I have not drawn much since finishing that big project I trust I mention another time, but I did work on a piece that satisfied me! Hopefully will do more before the end of March, but we'll see. As for the weather, I am please to say that the past two days or so have been more on the fresh side, thanks to the rain. I wonder if it can be kept until June, when the temperature will decidedly shift towards lesser heat. I am of course not holding my breath, autumn is volatile. Such variation means flu season is ongoing.  Before many of us noticed, we reached the end of March! To be fair, this time of year does not, in my opinion, passes as fast ...

In Which I talk a bit about the uncanny (but catchy) musical Cats

Good morning, my friend, reader of this post! Happy Monday! It is a new week. I hope it may be a good one, or at least a not-so-bad one. How is the weather? Here, it is as cold as the tropical coastal region can be, so that is most pleasant. How are you? As for me, if you allow me saying, I am stable in a good way, so that is very good. What are the plans, if any, for today? I was hoping to draw something… I don’t know what to draw yet, though. I could continue this drawing I’m working on, perhaps… I could do a portrait to someone, or maybe work on my own character, or rework on an old one. I could start a new drawing course, I have some in my library, all of them untouched. I am always intimidated by the task of practicing drawing by myself. And I always keep in mind it is a hobby, and I do it for myself, even if I like to receive compliments and feels sad when a drawing falls short with my friends. I guess I am a bit vain. Same with my posts, I am divided between wanting to catch the eyes and hearts of people, and specially friends, but I also want to write what is on my head, and that does not always go hand in hand with writing what others would find interesting…

Example, today I wanted to just briefly mention I decided, after many weeks of hesitation, to give a listen to the musical Cats (the Broadway recording of 1983). My excellent and most dear friend Charles Q. Banks and I had some thoughts and remarks on the show, and we discussed about it in our convos. We both agree that it is an odd, even to the point of sinister, story plot. And we are in the same page when it comes to the fact it is a weird show, unpleasant to the eye, to see those dancers dressed as animals moving around, uncanny to say the least. Taking away the plot, and the visual side of the show, though, the music of it, and I am hesitant on saying this due to my MANY reservations towards Andrew Lloyd Webber, is great! I am already addicted to some tracks of the spectacle. The source material for such songs, the poems about felines from the British writer TS Elliot, makes me want to look further into this author. I am sure he’d hated the whole thing, and I wouldn’t blame him at all, but well, it exists, for some reason, and this is another good question, why? And to whom this show appeal? Because the songs, though very charming and nice, are very quirky, even childish, even if Cats is not a show for kids. The figurine of the show, if not properly handled, can go, I imagine, in an awful terrible direction, like did the movie adaptation, that was, rightly so, shunned by everyone. I find it hard, at first glance, to fit this… musical… into any category, that I am aware of. In short: the music (lyrics included) gets a 8 1/2 out of 10, and the rest gets a big 4 out of 10. I mean, it is better than the Phantom of the Opera, I reckon. Better than Evita? I think so, too. I haven’t given Jesus Christ Superstar a chance, yet, so I can’t say if that one is any good. I believe, it is a thing about most pop culture things, they are not to be taken that seriously… in fact, not only pop culture, but a bit of lightness and innocence of heart may be required to enjoy it more, though innocence can be dangerous in this increasingly malicious world where it seems many bad elements have its own agenda, and that agenda points towards the demonic world of socialism. I know, I am not free of guilt, when it comes to analyze something a bit too much, and this blog saw me doing it. I also will not pretend some of those analyses did not make for some nice posts, but there is a lot of danger in that, again because of socialism, always socialism, the destroyer of everything. What else is there to be said?
I think this post turned out to be a nice one, and I am very happy to have finished it! I wonder… does my blog need another change in color scheme? What do you think? I admit I don’t have much patience to deal with it, even if I want the blog to look its best. This is for another moment, though. As of now, I believe the post is ready to be wrapped up! When we’ll see each other again? Hopefully around this week! Hope I may keep on having ideas for things to share, thoughts to be read. And June needs a proper wrap up! I am so close to 650 posts, it is a remarkable milestone, is it not? Cheers to you, dear reader, and thank you for stopping by the divagation store!
