Highlighted Quotes That Caught my Attention At The Moment

“The first fact about the celebration of birthdays is that it is a good way of affirming defiantly, and even flamboyantly, that it is a good thing to be alive.” – G.K. Chesterton.

In Which the much waited DLC for Victoria 3 comes out!

Good morning, my friend, reader of this post! Happy Thursday! How are you and how was your week so far? How is the weather? As for me, I cannot deny it was a week with a great event, new DLC for Victoria 3 being released. The game, that I haven't touched much since May, was quickly revived by this new content. More on that, further on the this blog entry. I am overall okay, some ups and downs, I suppose it happens. At least I managed to sleep more reasonably Wednesday night, it has been rare for me to rest as much when I am supposed to do it, so that is a good achievement! The weather has been pleasant as well, cheers to that, I love Winter! How June is going by fast, at this point. Soon, it will be over. I already should plan on my Wrap up post of the month, so we can start July in a good way... one month closer to my birthday. I still hope I can switch phones, somehow, but financial troubles still haunt me. I did spend more in June than I was expecting, way more than I should, mu

In Which Patch Update for 1.5 Victoria 3 comes out, and I say it still needs more polishing

Good morning, dear reader, happy Friday, and I wish you the best. How are you, today? As for me, I am exhausted, I did not sleep well, at all, last night. Part of that comes with excitement over Vic3, part of that is just a touch of anxiety. And, as the excitement over Vic3 was overrated (more on that, you may read it as the blog post goes), it adds to the exhaustion, making me also very frustrated. This is, at least, for today. Yesterday was not a bad day, I am happy to say! Just by having the opportunity to chat a bit with dearest of friends? It was everything I wanted and then some. Listening from him was magical, how I love my great and celebrated friend! This was amazing, and I hope he may have the time and energy to chat with me again, at some point really soon… apart from that, I spent my morning waiting for the beta update of Vic3, and about that…

Victoria 3 came out with very significant updates yesterday, for their new upcoming version of the game, which is 1.5. So much so, it was released on beta branch, they will release them fully polished in November, at some point. There is a lot to be done, still, because, as I played the game with this beta branch update… there are major issues with the balancing of the game. One example is the change in the military system. I am not sure if this was the cause of this problem, but what I know is that there was a war between Sardinia and Austria, that hasn’t significantly progressed in 5-7 years. As none were capable of capturing each other’s capitals, the war score was around 0 for most of the war, so, undecided to say the least, and none sides were willing to withdraw. An awkward situation. Those small pace issues can be very concerning, but I think the pacing of reforms with the Russian Empire, the nation I was trying out, has become absolutely egregious. It is extremely hard to get away from a primitive economy as them, and move to, let’s say, a free market economy, because the gentry will oppose that to the death. It varies from leader of the interest group, but in my case, I had a traditionalist as a representative of the gentry, and he opposed my every move, making the game frustrating, not in an exciting way, but in a terribly draining one. Makes me exceedingly exhausted overall, and more often than not I leave the computer like I wasted my time. A game should never leave you like that. That is bad. So, in conclusion, the patch still need polishing, and a lot of it, to make the game better than it was before. Or even to make the game feel the same way as before, not worse. I can only speak from my frustration, as I woke up more than excited to play Vic3, and I saw it turn into an indifferent, tired feel. It is freaking 6AM in the morning, for a game to make me feel this way so early on… goes to show a lot still to be done.

Apart from Vic3, which again, I love the game, but this patch still needs work, and much of it, I am thinking what else to do with my day. This very bad experience with the game makes me unwilling to touch it again until the final release of the update. I barely slept this evening and this is a major issue. I have issues to solve, such as how to go to my hydro classes. I don’t think I am in condition this morning, given how exhausted I am, I only slept 2 hours or so, and with great difficulty.

This was written yesterday, on Friday the 13th. Today is Saturday, 14th. I slept better somewhat, and I decided to play once again some Victoria 3. I am happy I did not give up entirely my last save, as I managed to finally start paving the way to a more modern economy. The debt issue is crippling, but I also approved a tax reform. And so it goes…

I could not publish this yesterday, because I grew tired as I finished, so I slept through. I will publish this account today, we have a very cohesive piece. And with that, I hope I can return to the blog to write once again really soon, perhaps tomorrow? I am not sure, it always relies on what I desire to do. And if I have something to say, and if I can put those words into the digital paper. So it goes… until then, thank you for listening to my small rant on the further improvements Vic3 needs, at least for this patch update. Wish you the best, and I will see you again real soon, so don’t worry.
